VZ-600i fails to return to starting position after scanning

After completing a scan, the scanner no longer returns to the starting position. It behaves normally otherwise.

Symptoms

Usually, after completing a 360 degree scan the scanner will rotate back to the starting position. This is called the "park" position, and by default it is set to 180 degrees - with the scanner window opposite the ethernet port on the fixed, lower part of the scanner body.

In rare circumstances, the scanner will no longer park itself, but will remain pointing in the 0 / 360 degree position (with the scanner glass above the ethernet port).

Cause

This behaviour is caused by the scanner forgetting the "park" settings.

Solution

In the scanner settings, change the park mode to "Frame only", and then back to "Automatic". After this, the scanner should behave normally.
