How to apply firmware updates to RIEGL TLS scanners
VZ-600i
Firmware updates for the VZ-600i need to be copied to a blank CFast card, which should be inserted into the scanner whilst it is powered off.
The scanner is then booted up, at which point it will detect the update file and apply it.
A results file in the format .zip.gpg will be copied back to the CFast card - this file should be sent back to support to be checked for successful completion of the update.
VZ-400, VZ-200i
From 2025, there is a new process to update the firmware on older RIEGL TLS scanners such as the VZ-400i.
The firmware update is provided in the .rifwp format. This update should be copied to a blank USB stick, which needs to be inserted into the scanner whilst it is powered off.
The scanner is then booted up, at which point it will detect the update file and apply it.
