Generating imagery support logs

Imagery support logs give information about processes occurring around image triggering. If your cameras fail to initialise, or if they fail to trigger, they can provide valuable information.

File locations

Where the logs are depends on your setup.

Broadly speaking, these fall into the below categories:

  • ALS units with an iXController
    • Where the operator works directly on the iXController
    • Where the operator does not work directly on the iXController
    • Where you are specifically asked for iXCapture logs, rather than RiKINO etc
  • MLS units
    • Using Linux-based CUs/IUs
    • Using Windows-based IUs
    • Using an external operating PC

Instructions for each of these are provided below the list of files to send.

Files to send

  • RieglImageCapture.log
  • RiKINO2.log
  • RiKINO2_watchdog.log
  • RiPhaseOneServer.log
  • RiPhaseOneServer_watchdog.log
  • RiTrigSettings.log
  • RiTrigUpdate.log

Please zip all files in this folder - the result may be quite large.

Getting there

ALS units, working directly on the iXController

  • Search for the folder containing the files mentioned below. It should be on the c:\ drive.
    • Quite often this folder is called RIEGL_LMS.

ALS units, not working directly on the iXController

  • Open the windows file explorer and type in following address: \\192.168.0.78
  • If it asks for username and password, then please type ‘als’ without apostrophes for both user and password.
  • Search for the folder containing the files mentioned below. It should be on the c:\ drive.
    • Quite often this folder is called RIEGL_LMS.

ALS units - iXCapture logs

You may be prompted to send in iXCapture logs, in some rare situations:

  • In these situations, we would want the full contents of the C: > Users > YourUsername > AppData > Local > iXCapture > Logs folder.
  • Generally, if these specific files are needed, you will be informed by your Support representative.

MLS units - Linux

  • Please access the home folder, either in your Start menu under home/mls, or on the Desktop.
  • Within that folder should be a log folder - please send the contents through.

MLS units - Windows IU

  • Open the windows file explorer and type in following address: \\192.168.0.78
    • If at first this doesn't succeed, ensure the unit is powered.
  • If it asks for username and password, then please type ‘mls’ without apostrophes for both user and password.
  • Search for the folder log.

MLS units - external acquisition PC

  • Please open the windows file explorer and navigate to C:\Users\[user name]\Riegl_LMS
